Malcolm McLaren was a lot more important for having helped to assemble and manage the Sex Pistols, for better or worse. (He also managed what was left of the New York Dolls in 1975 . . . )

An interesting and controversial character. I wonder how (or if) the former Sex Pistols will react to this news. They had many issues with him.

Wow. At first I misread it as Malcom McDowell, and I was more upset.
I wonder if Vivienne Westwood will care at all. I'm torn. It's a bummer when people die, but he was terribly important, (at least that's what the music history books say) although I question how much credit he took for things he didn't really do.....
Wanna be Svengali type that's for sure. Provocative, manipluative, and apparently a
( think in a british accent) "a complete bastard"

This was big news for me, I love(d) so much of the music he was involved with one way or the other.

I think he was remarkably creative; he thought way out of the box and dreamed up music combos like a true artiste. His FANS album of 1985 was opera with a beat box and synths - great stuff.

If you can find this biography buy it, it is a wonderfully entertaining read, the guy is a true legend:

The Wicked Ways of Malcolm Mclaren : Sex Pistols, Boy George, Adam Ant, Butterfly, Bow Wow Wow, Buffalo Gals, Too Fast to Live, Too Young to Die by Craig Bromberg (Paperback - Jan. 1, 1989)
