This is a wonderful zoo many don't even know about. It is clean and fun. You will see many shore birds and fantastic zoo animals. Not that far from the beach at all. Visit and enjoy! Easy on your budget too.
A year round place to visit is Broadway at the Beach. About a long block or two from the beach but a great place to visit for the day. Many small shops, restaurants of all types, homemade taffy and collectibles. Go to the movies there or take in some minature golf. Ride a paddle boat, or have an ice cream. Fun for all.
Barefoot Landing in North Myrtle is another area of small stores and restaurants. Lots of little walkways over the water. A great walking or strolling place.
The Convention Center has many different shows. We went to a wonderful flea market inside. Check whats going on there while you are in Myrtle.
Chapin Park sometimes has a great craft show going on, look for notices about happenings.
Socastee Library has great books and computers to use if you need one.
Brookgreen Gardens makes for a wonderful day of fantastic gardens and outdoor enjoyment.
Visit the Myrtle Beach State Park or Huntington Beach State Park. The latter having walkways out into the marsh. Bring a picnic lunch.
Opening in the spring the Family Fun Park and nearby is the "new" huge farris wheel all enclosed in glass. Views to adore!
Dolly's Stampede is now the "Pirates Adventure" great fun for all.
There is a new "mining" spot near Surfside on 17.....Take all your explorers and little diggers there.
Take a ride to the Callabash up in NC and visit Callahans a huge gift store with all kinds of items. Or, for that fact ,visit the Gator Hole in Murrells Inlet for another fun gift, or personal shore shopping.
Look for shows with many singers and entertainers at Alabama Theater, The Palace Theater, Legends, Carolina Opry or the House of Blues.
Head to Market Commons. Visit all the upbeat stores, take in a movie, and have some great ice crream.
Its raining? Don't mind...Go to the Coastal Grand Mall and shop in all the stores you love. Some stores you may not have in your state could be Belks, or Dillards. They even have my favorite store Kirklands.
Rainy days, sunny days, cold or warm days...There is always something to do in Myrtle Beach.
Oh cute but the mine is just a "made" one for the little kids. Not a "real" mine.
I'll try to get a picture of it though its cute but.......emmmm........I think you might just
find only ( perhaps) some plastic things...lol
My daughters two boys loved the "real mines" which were I think in NC ( western)......A really fun day. I got quite a few colorful stones..( so sweet of them)
With the convention going on Our town is full of Presidential candidates. The sand sculpture was finished in the sand mounds to look like the potentials.
I felt like heading out to find all the picture opportunities but my calendar kept me busy.
We will be heading to Pawleys Island soon to look around, then I will post some very special places
in the more quiet and serene area of Myrtle Beach.
Great information! I'll be going in June with my sister and her friend. I"ll definitely have to visit the gardens considering the fact that I'm a nature kind of guy. I've also always been into ferris wheels (favorite ride at carnivals). Twelve bucks seems like a high price though for a ferris wheel...
That ferris wheel is HUGE! Still haven't mustered up the courage to get on it....great ideas of what to do & see in the Myrtle Beach area,
Summering, I would love to hear about Pawleys Island, Murrels Inlet, Garden City? Thanks so much for typing ideas out I'm going to print them & but them on my bucket list!
I ate at such a fun place the other night " Joey Doggs " in Surfside in front of Old Time Pottery. They serve you in plastic dog bowls WHAT A HOOT! My cousins and I had a lot of laughs there and I'm willing to bet kids will get a big kick out of it.
Had Italian Wedding Soup last night it was delish! I took it home ( not in a doggie bag ha-ha )
In addition to being huge, the seats are enclosed and air conditioned/heated. It's goes around pretty slowly compared to a real ferris wheel. It's definitely not the same experience as a carnival...it's more like a slow ride around to view the beach and town. Even those who are afraid of the carnival ferris wheel might enjoy the Skywheel.
