We will be in PI in the next week or so and will have family staying in Ocean Isle that we'd like to visit. What would be the best way to get there on a week day in June?

Take 17 Bypass to Hwy 544 in Surfside Beach and take a left, about a mile and a half after crossing the waterway, Hwy 31 will be on the right, take it to the end which is Hwy 9 and head towards the beach and follow signs to Hwy 17 north. Stay on 17 until you see the sign for Ocean Isle Beach and take a right and follow to the end.

Thanks, Gary. I knew there had to be a way to get there without going through Myrtle Beach! How long do you think this will take?

I travel from Little River (on No. Carolina line) to Murrells Inlet weekly for my golf league in 50 minutes. Ocean Isle is about 12 miles further north.

Instead of getting on 31 at 544, I typically stay on 17 bypass for 15 miles until I get to Grissom Parkway - then hop on 31 north. Although this takes me through a few stop lights in MB, unless the local traffic is particularly heavy I prefer this route since it cuts off about 5 miles on the commute and I have not found the other route to get me there any sooner. Once i am on 31 it is just 12 miles to my exit at Highway 9 South/17 North. I also like the local way instead of all highway as i get to see what's new on 17...
