Hi, I'm a single mom with a 12 year old daughter who is really wanting to move to the area. Can anyone give me the 'skinny' on the schools, best areas for kids, not too high crime area, affordable/livable, good vs. bad apartments/and or rental companies. Any and all info is welcome! Where do people like to shop for groceries and how are the prices? What is gas per gallon right now? It's $2.60ish here so I'm just looking to compare.
Is the summertime sticky/humid? Do you ever get snow? Thank you for any and all responses!

Can't help you with schools but check out crime spot - https://www.spotcrime.info/#317%20Is...29579%2C%20USA
Most of the thefts in the developments are for thefts from cars - for some reason people don't lock their cars around here. The Carolina Forest area is probably the most kid friendly area but has few apartments it's mostly single family homes running about $1500 a month to rent.
Gas right now is in the $2.30 range, more expensive near the beach. Grocery prices are about the same.
It is hot and humid in the summer right now it 90 degrees with the heat index of 103.
We have been known to get snow occasionally during the winter, it usually melts before it hits the ground
