Do you feel this is the new trend in Naples or a rough patch.. The crime rate seems to def have gone up. Mostly shootings. I'm inclined to blame it on tough times buttttt its tough everywhere so who knows..

Naples/Collier County always had more crime than discussed/reported, murders, burglaries out the a$$, rapes, on and on. A specific rise in homicides may only be a rough patch as things like that seem to come in cycles.

Aren't you the one that's been raving about Naples and its things to do (Childrens' Museum, etc.)? I see you're going to NH in 2013, what changed?

I don't hate naples at all. It is a nice place , crimes aside (I'm very aware of the crime here my husband is a 911 dispatcher!) but my husband is finishing school shortly and may have a better career change waiting for him up north. I am transferable in my job and with a promotion will be able to get a much better pay rate. After much discussion we want our daughter to experience all season growing up and school systems are notoriously bad here (I've made no secret of my dislike of schools here) I don't think people should hesitate to move to Naples if its what they really want but ours is a job situation right now and we'll go where the money is. I've also got some medical issues that are unresolved and driving back and forth to Mayo clinic in Jacksonville is a long haul with a 3 year old. Being closer to better medical care is important also

Good luck to you, I work for the SO too, we're looking to move to WA (Seattle area) for the same reasons you posted, money, 4 seasons, etc. Again, good luck.

Default Leaving Seattle for Naples? YIKES.

Naples is the most crime-free area I've ever lived in. We are SAFE here, compared to horrible gang-refuges like Miami, New York, Seattle, Detroit, etc. I feel very privileged to live in such a low-crime city, and I'm thankful to the police force AND the city administrators for creating/enforcing the policies that make criminals look elsewhere for victims.
