Hi, my boyfriend and I are professionals that are in our late 30's and early 40's considering a move to Marco Island. We currently live on the Gulf Coast, we have lived in Naples and visited Marco many of times. The place we currently live it's very hard to find people our age to hang out with. We love Marco and we are pretty sure we are going to make a move there. However, it would be nice to meet some people our age when we finally move there and get settled. So my question is, is there people that live there that are in the age group of 30- 50? Thanks for your help.

I feel your frustration. My girlfriend and I are leaving Ft Myers for the same reasons. We are young professionals in our 20s and feel like outcasts.
There might be young professional organizations in Collier. Might be worth a try to see if one exists.

Marco Island is not a youth oriented community. I have clients in their early 60's who live there that feel too young. Have you tried Estero?

Lol Marco for young people? thats laughable! SWFL for young people in general is not the place to be. You're on the wrong coast. Every time I go to Publix I think about how many of these people are too old to even be my grandparents! Even the people working the registers are old!

Marco Island is in the middle of nowhere and is mainly a retirement community. That whole part of Florida (Naples) is a retirement community.

It's a nice place with nice beaches. If you need more socializing or whatever you might want to look elsewhere. However, if you just want to spend all day just lounging and doing nothing all day... then Marco Island is great. I don't like socializing. I'd rather be by myself and just sitting around pretending to be in a solo island trip.

Funny you said that. Was at a Kentucky Derby party yesterday and the number of kids - babies through pre-teens - far outnumbered anyone over 45. But then again nearly all were corporate transplants brought to SWFL.

Enjoy NC, hope your move goes well.
