i got 2 quotes for aluminum electric roll-down shutters that will cover my lanai sliders (estimate approx 20 ft long). my surprise was the big difference in price between the 2 quotes for what appeared to be the same shutter. one price was approx 40% more than the other. has anyone experienced the same thing. thanks

May I ask who you got the quotes from? You can PM me if you prefer.

I'm considering putting a roll down on my back lanai. Thank you.

Why do you prefer aluminum?

The 'Kevlar-like' fabric roll down screens are very effective, nearly bullet proof, lighter weight, (less work for the roll down motor), and allow for some light/some visual through the screens. They also come with a manual crank, (not fun but doable), for lowering and raising when you are out of electric power.

Also effective as a partial/nearly all the way down sun blocker on your lanai.

We had the aluminum version at our Naples winter house and have the fabric screens here at our Venice area house; the fabric screens are like day and night, literally.

StormSmart of Ft Myers, did ours.

association does not allow for fabric shutters. i tried and they denied me. they want everyone's shutters to look the same and that is their choice.

So typical - you try and exceed the standard and they deny it. Are you full year or part time? Most HOAs also don’t let you put them up more than a couple of days before and a couple days after a hurricane so I don’t know what the big deal is.
