A mega mall and entertainment complex in Northwest Miami-Dade that would dwarf any other appears to be on course for approval, but not without controversy. It’s called the American Dream.
It would be the largest mall in the world.

A shopping and entertainment complex slated to go up on vacant land south of where the Florida Turnpike and I-75 meet near Broward County.

This will put a lot more traffic on I-75....says they are going to hire 14,000 people....that might end up being the market for RLW

I've always been amazed that Miami does not have some sort of theme park though. Left to me, I would eliminate the mall and make it just a park. This is going in close to two malls that are not doing the great and malls in Miami have a bad history of being taken over by kid gangs. They ruined Coconut Grove and South Beach

More than likely the blue collar types and most management people will leave job there current jobs only to go to the new was bang super mall to work assuming some area business don't move into the new mall and stores with in a 7 to 10 mile area that compete will close . Just a bigger version of wall world coming to small town America bit with a big room too ! .

Some management may move to collier but a daily 1.30 to 2hr commute each way ? Humm, some one with a CDL might open a maga mall worker bee bus run . We have that in out area for Baxters Medical - IV bags , about an hour a day for a number of people in a 15 passenger line . Ha

The entertainment value of this new mall help it survive beyond the average life span but it will draw those same type new kid gangs too .

Many malls are closing now do to online sales . Many big name anchors are struggling now or all ready looking to reorganize in most malls . The Sears in the Asheville mall near us is closing in a July and been selling down for months and the old mall that closed rebranding itself cut the common area roof off is now an outlet mall with different stores but will it make 10 years ? Maybe .

You would be amazed at how many friends and neighbors we have that commute from here to Miami (min 2 1/2 hrs) for work every day. And almost all of our labor comes from Homestead/Florida City (which can also be 2 hrs in traffic) every day.

I'm with you, the news reports malls closing all the time.

It's stupid, if you want people to not go to Orlando or come to Broward or Miami Dade instead build a Six Flags or other theme park there not an entertainment mall.
