We are in Ft.Lauderdale. This was my first time crossing I-75 across Florida to get to the west coast. What a different world ! We exited on golden Gate parkway and made our way to La Playa beach resort on Gulf Shore Road. What a beautiful place Naples was. Everything perfect, nicely manicured. Lot's of older people...that was funny to see. We went to 5th ave for Halloween and walked around. Pretty cool places. We then went to 3rd street area and ate at Tommy Bahama. What really impressed me was that all the parking garages were FREE and the street parking was FREE too ! No meters. What a refreshing concept ! Here in Ft.Lauderale, they try to rip you off everywhere you go...meters everywhere, parking garages and lots charging 10.00 minimum. What a rip off. So it was so nice to see FREE public services in Naples. I guess we were actually in North Naples according to the maps I saw.

The La Playa resort was also very nice. I have never had such excellent room service as I had at the La Playa.

Thanks Naples for giving this Floridian hope that there are still some beautiful areas in Florida left ! We sort of get brain washed here in South East Florida if you know what I'm saying.

Although the people in Vero Beach are more friendly IMO, I often miss Naples & Bonita for the reasons you mentioned. However, Vero is very pretty too and has lovely beaches & parks. Happy to hear you enjoyed your stay.

I'm glad you enjoyed your stay here in Naples. We live here and sometimes visit my wife's brother in Palm Beach. The only problem we have going over there to the East Coast are the toll roads. Everywhere we drive you have to pay tolls, its kind of annoying when you get off a toll road, only to get onto another one. I haven't had to deal with the parking ramps, although Miami has been horrible as far as parking spots go for us . One trip down to the immigration area is all you need , cars are being ticketed and towed all over the place. Is LAuderdale the same way?
Naples doesn't have those problems.
