Hi, we are moving to Franklin next week. We have 4 children and need recommendations for good doctors. We need a pedeatrician, dentist and orthodontist. Are there any that are well regarded?

We also need a good G/P or internist and dentist for ourselves. Do you know of any that you would reccomend?

Also, the kids have many interests that they enjoy. I would like for them to continue with them. I think it will also be a good way for them to meet other kids and become acclimated with the area. Some of their particular interest are:

dance
gymnastics
competitive cheerleading
music lessons (violin, piano)
voice lessons
riding
karate
swim team
soccer

I would really appreciate any reccomendations you can give.

Are there certain summer day camps or activities that are very popular? So that they would have a good chance of meeting other kids?

Thanks so much

All the doctors at Harpeth Pediatrics are good.
My kids like Dr. Snodgrass for dentist (he was the only one that took our insurance when we moved here).

Dance-I've heard good things about Ann Carroll (I think it is at the factory)
Gymnastics-Let it Shine and Harpeth Gymnastics
Music Lessons-Check with Shuffs downtonw Franklin
Swim and Soccer-Williamson County Park and Rec and the Y both run good soccer and swimming programs.

We do competitive gymnastics at Let it Shine. They are also starting a competitive cheerleading squad.

Premier is the best known cheerleading gym.

We go to Brentwood Children's Clinic.

Brentwood Soccer Club does travel soccer. We play in the advanced league at the Brentwood Y and like it. We have too many children in too many different activities to do travel soccer, but our friends that do BSC really like it.

Most good camps are full- but I would try Williamson County Parks & Rec and see if they have a camp at your new school site. My children go to one of the schools in Brentwood for that camp & love it. You go whenever you want. They put out a list of activities and then my children pick their days. We got a call today that they are opening up the waiting list. So I would try calling them today or tomorrow.

I second Harpeth Peds. Dr. Collins is awesome, but all there have been wonderful. 9 years now, and not a single complaint. Harpeth Pediatrics

Had a very bad experience with Dr. Snodgrass, as did 3 of my neighbors, I later learned. Dr. Buzz Alexander (also in Franklin) is fantastic! Two kids there for 8 years and we love the entire staff. Warm, caring and professional. (615) 790-3444

Daisy Dern is a great piano teacher, if she's still taking students. She teaches voice, too. At least she did a couple years ago. daisydern@savannahmusicgroup.com

We've had great experiences with Y sports leagues.

Good luck, and welcome!

I also had a bad experience with Dr. Snodgrass's office. Just Google them and read the reviews to get a good idea.

For kids I also highly recommend Dr. Buzz. He is awesome. For adults I recommend Dr. Paul Gilliam. Great work and he does not try to "diagnose" you with dubious stuff or overbill you.

We have been going to Pediatric Associates of Franklin for 14 years and stuck with them through three office moves over the years. I like Dr. Carr, Dr. Brooks and Dr. Chambers there.

YMCA sports for rec league, West Nashville Sports League for more competitive, though they make lots of schedule adjustments along the way and you play ALL OVER TOWN, which is not always convenient but it broadens your horizons.

We play Brentwood Blaze but you would probably like Franklin Cowboys for contact football. The YMCA flag football league through the Franklin Y is really fun.

Our pediatrician says not to go to Snodgrass King. Buzz Alexander is who he recommends also.
We go to a family dentist in Nashville- Dr. Nally. They see me and my 2 older children at the same, so we are done in an hour. But it's in the 100 Oaks Area, so not in Franklin.

Williamson County Parks & Rec also has a flag football league that plays indoors. Sign up is right now. It's a fun league that ends in a Super Bowl.

comingsoon-
You would have a hard time finding a part of Brentwood that is not family friendly. It is packed with families and kids.
All of the schools are good. My first choices would be Lipscomb, Edmondson and Scales.
My children attend Edmondson and we love it. Many of the teachers have been there for 10+ years. Lipscomb is a great location in Brentwood, and has an excellent special ed program.
Crockett is also a good location, but it is bigger than some of the others.
I love the houses around Kenrose, but it is further out that the other 3. I also know less about it than the others.
Sunset would be my last choice just because it is pretty big and the newest of the Brentwood schools. I have been told they do a lot of fundraising because they don't yet have the facilities the other schools have.

But I don't think you could go wrong with any of them. Those are just my opinions.

We also use Harpeth Pediatrics and Let it Shine. My children go to Brentwood Dental Specialist in Cool Springs. They have pediatric dental on one side and pediatric orthodontics on the other.
