My fiance and I are moving to downtown Nashville at the end of July 2010. We needed a little advice as far as where to live for under $1000 that will still give us 2BR/2BTH, not too small, and 40lb. dog friendly. We would like to be within 10 minutes or closer to downtown so that we could walk to restaurants, music, park, etc... . We are not wanting to waste time in traffic if possible. Any help or advice would be extremely helpful.

Based on your needs, Sylvan Park is what I would suggest.

Areas that are convenient to downtown are places like East Nashville (5 Points...Lockeland Springs...East End...Edgefield), Germantown, Hillsboro Village, 12south. These are also places that have sidewalks and various shops and restaurants that you can walk to. I would just search for rentals in these areas and see what you find for $1000 that might work for you.
