Hi,

My family/friends and I are attending a wedding this weekend at the Country Music Hall of Fame, and we are all staying downtown /just east of Vanderbilt.

My friends and I really want to check the city out as we've never been. I'm a big fan of dive bars, but I know my friends will also want to check out a place that has a good DJ and/or an area for dancing. We do tend to party hard...

We range from 25-35ish and are just looking for a good place to hang out with a group of friends.

I would appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks so much!

Ironically, I have a bunch of buddies coming in from all over the Southeast this weekend for our 2010 fantasy football draft. They're staying with my buddy in East Nashville, and we'll probably hit the downtown scene Saturday night. Our plan is to start at WannaB's, a small karaoke bar at Broadway and 3rd that is pretty modern but has some dive properties. It is connected to a huge, dance club type place called Cadillac Ranch that charges a $5 cover, but if you enter at WannaB's you can get into Cadillac through the back for free. Cadillac will probably be our second stop, and from there, who knows.

Maybe your crew should meet up with my crew and see what happens...

You should be able to have a good time anywhere in the District - Broadway from 4th Street to the River and along 2nd Avenue (say between Broadway and Church). Popular bars in the District include Robert's Western World, Hard Rock Cafe, Tootsie's, Layla's Bluegrass Inn, etc. You can do searches for all these places on Yelp.com.

You might also try the area around Music Circle. I drove by last weekend around midnight and seemed to be hopping. I think this is one popular bar there (Red Rooster Bar & Music Hall - Demonbreun - Nashville, TN) and there are probably others.

You can also check out the Scene to find specific ideas for the weekend - Nashville Scene

Have fun!

I'm a female 27-year old, and my group of friends and I go for the bar scene in Midtown: Red Door, Broadway Brewhouse, The Gulch: Whiskey Kitchen. For a more amped-up dance atmosphere, we like Tin Roof on Demonbreun and the Stage in downtown is a place every person should try once.
Have fun!
