I must say you have some guts to pack up and move without visting. I moving to Nashville in Jan and was like you I did alot of research online about the area and city. I thought I was being so organized and getting all my stuff together before going. Well I was wrong! I went to go visit for the weekend a few weeks ago and I was in shock! The area was just so large and it doesnt matter how much you read online it doesnt really help until you actually get there. And still once you are there (if you are like me) I wasted a whole day just by being turned around and lost and not knowing where to start. I actually had appointments set up to places to see as far as apts, jobs, ect. and I hardly made it to all of them. I was pooped needless to say after that weekend. I drove for 7 hours to get there and 7 hours on the way back so I long trip. I know you are in a hard spot with your dad and you not being able to drive. But you really need to go out there atleast just once so you will know what to expect. Reading things onine isnt enough sometimes. And I would hate for ya'll to pack up move and then have to turn right back around becuase you didnt like it. Could your parents not stay at home while you go down to visit?

That's gotta be a joke, right?

I don't see why this thread should go so badly.

The OP should be able to search for apartments online & only do a short lease. The next year you can move when time & funds permit. There are a number of nice apartments in the Bellevue area. A lot depends on what size unit you will need. Most apartments here are 2-3 story buildings with 4 tenants per floor.

Another option may be with a "short stay" type of building. They may still have a lot of flood victims waiting for their homes to be rebuilt.

I think you could do a lot worse than Nashville.

O.K. so you said: I do have a car and so do my parents but they're old and need to be fixed(which we're going to do soon). I can't drive right now and my father's disabled, so a 12 hour trip would not be easy. Moving is going to be hard enough but having to make two 12 hour trips(going and coming home) would be very hard.

So the person misunderstood that both parents were disabled. I thought you were saying your parents are old and need to be fixed but you were referring to the vehicles.

The posters are trying to tell you that it will be hard to move here without seeing it first and I have to agree. My husband and I vacationed in Nashville during two separate summers and when we thought we wanted to live here we visited in Feb. We visited three different towns after deciding that Nashville was going to be too big for us. (We moved from small town New Hampshire).

We took a short term rental in an apartment and ended up living in Murfreesboro much to our surprise. It was a much different experience once we got here.

I don't see where you say if you are in a house or apartment situation now. We found it very difficult to go to apartment living even for 8 short weeks.

You sound convinced that what you are planning is right for you so good luck. I would recommend using google earth or maps to get pictures of the areas you might want to live in. While not the same as visiting, it is one more tool to help you decide.

my guess is this person is only like 16. Why else would they not be able to drive or be able to visit the town with out their parents.

No, in one of her previous posts from April it says she's in her 20s and out of school. It says she lives with her parents, who I'm gathering are older/one is on disability or disabled in some way, so she would want them to be here to help select an area and/or house.
It sounds like they would be buying together (or the parents are buying) so they would need to give input.
