Sadly, it DOES look like Amazon is it . . Both Davis Kidd bookstores are closed, and a big one in Chattanooga is gone as well. What a shame. There IS a cool little bookstore in Franklin:

Borders on West End isn't necessarily huge, but I don't remember it being much if any smaller than Davis Kidd in Green Hills. That said, I didn't go into Davis Kidd that often, so my memory may be faulty (as is often the case, hah!)
