OK. Thursday. I want a Margarita. And maybe nachos! Who does the best Mexican? My first Mexican food ever was in Long Beach, CA when I was about 25. Moved to CA from the East Coast and we didn't HAVE any Mexican restaurants in Connecticut. Not that I knew of anyway. I didn't know a burrito from a churro.

I do now.

And it's dangerous information . . . . (burp)

I've only been to ONE Mexican restaurant here called Pueblo Real near downtown Franklin. It was very good. But I need someplace to compare it to . . . .

Sadly the best Mexican in CT was On the Border.

I'm a Tex-Mex fan. I like Chuys a lot, but maybe because I spent a lot of time drinking there my senior year of college.

There is a Chuy's in Cool Springs and Murfreesboro.

Hands down...La Hacienda on Nolensville Rd.

I've been going there since it was just a small grocery store with a grill and a few barstools in the early 90s and it just keeps getting better.

I have tried Local Taco and Las Palmas, not a fan.
I like Changos in Belmont, good vibe and patio. Also Taco Mamacita has good variations of you don't want a normal taco, plus they have skinny margaritas. So you could get three instead of one!

You need to start exploring the Mexican culinary options here!

I love Las Palmas for cheap eats, and Local Taco for non-mexican styled tacos. I do not care much for La Hacienda on Nolensville--the food is okay but just haven't ever gotten very good service on a normal day so I can imagine what it's like on Cinco. On a celebratory day like Cinco de Mayo, I'm inclined to tell you to go to either Las Maracas at 2704 Gallatin Pike or Tequila's off Charlotte Avenue in the StrikenSpare/Big Lots shopping center.

EVERYWHERE is going to be packed, especially these places. So be prepared to wait for your margaritas! I'll be at Tequila's and hopefully the weather is nice enough to be waiting outside.

I don't believe that they serve margaritas, but Las Americas Market makes some really good papusas, and you can't beat the prices--I've gotten into the habit of stopping there for lunch after every trip to the zoo.

I love papusas, but they are Salvadorean, not Mexican.

Sol in Franklin is trying to break the world's record for largest tequila toast on Thursday.

I love Oscar's tacos. There's one on Mallory Lane across from Centennial High, one out on Nolensville Rd. south of Concord Rd. and one in downtown Franklin on Columbia Hwy.

The margaritas at Mexican restaurants are too weak. Bring a few airplane bottles of tequila with you.

The LP Special at Las palmas is To Die For! I ate it twice last week. La Hacienda is my favorite all around Mexican joint though. Their cheese dip is pretty delicious and I have heard amazing things about the fish tacos.
