My wife suffers terribly from SAD, which is one of the reasons we plan to move South and get out of MA. Nashville seems ideal to us. However, after some research we realized that the Nashville area seems to have several months (Fall and Winter) of dreary, overcast skies. Can any tell me from personal experience, either relos or locals about the cloudy months? Please be as honest as possible (when you love a place we all tend to ignore the negatives). We love the idea of the Nashville area and would hate to have to rule it out, but this is a big issue for us. Your thoughts are appreciated.

Dave

There is a "sunshine chart" on the City-Data page for Nashville (as wll as other cities). You might want to compare it to where you live now.

Thanks. I did take a look. It does give us good info, but I was wondering about peoples experience - how they actually feel during those months.

I moved here from San Diego in January. The skies were always clear.
It got cold and even had snow flurries a few days...but beautiful skies.
Spring was the same...just very pleasant....even when the rain rolls in...it gets dark..rains...and then clears out...not hanging gloom like in pacific northwest, for example.
Right now is about the worst I have had to deal with...the 3 "H's" -
Heat, Humidity, Haze.... The real blue sky has disappeared for now...but I suspect, it won't be long til it comes around again.
Overall...the weather here is wonderful. ....and I am coming from an area in the USA that is ~most excellent~ in the weather catagory~

Thanks for the feedback, blueyes. Since San Diego is pretty much the most perfect weather I have ever experienced (on vacation) your perspective is appreciated.
