My son is about to turn 18. We moved here about 3 weeks ago. One of his friends from our last location is coming in to surprise him. I wanted to take them somewhere that two 17/18 year old boys would love. I was thinking of renting jet ski's but I just found out that you have to be 18 to operate a jet ski.
I was also considering the zipline adventure park, but the friend was not impressed. I don't want to spend more than $150 ish.

Any ideas? I have two days to decide! And i really want it to be special.

THANKS!

Paintball, skatepark, climbing wall, laser tag, concert, it depends on your son's interests. What does he like?

Help us narrow it down, and I'm sure we'll think of a place he'll love.

I was at a concert at Exit/In last week. ICONIC venue in town. Seems like everyone has played there at one time (1960's) or the other. There's a list on the wall. There were a lot of younger kids there - maybe 18/19 - and there's a Mexican Restaurant right next door. What day is his birthday? Have you checked for live music that night?

He likes the outdoors, adventure stuff but not heights. Both love music but mostly indie and alternative music (my son has his own radio show). Yes perhaps paint ball although the idea of the boys pointing guns and shooting people seems barbaric but that is what makes up most of the video games they love.

If you were a boy turning 18 what would you want to do?

Sounds like a music venue's your best bet. His friend is still 17, right? If so, we need to find an under-18 show for Friday that's not sold out. Is Saturday an option too?

I saw the Sublime band at Exit/in on Saturday night, he would probably like that but the Exit/in says 18 +, does that mean under 18 has to be accompanied by an adult or really no minors. In Memphis where we moved from I could bring my under aged kids to over 18 shows. Does anyone know?

Dinner at Hooters (or anywhere on 2nd) and then some games of LaserQuest?

Do they have fake IDs? If so, they would probably enjoy some of the karaoke joints on Lower Broad/2nd Ave. If not, as bmrisko said, there's always Hooters... but afterward there won't be much for them to do downtown. The friend being only 17 is a huge monkey wrench. Even Graham Central wouldn't let him in. He at least needs to obtain an ID showing he's 18.
