Hello I just moved to Columbia Tn, a week ago and I was wondering who has a nice fire works around here. We are willing to travel to if you know of a nice place to go too. Thank you for your help.

Brentwood has a GREAT fireworks display with a concert in Crockett Park. It's not just some backyard fireworks show, either. They go on for about 20-25 minutes. It's also free and not nearly as crowded as the one in Nashville.

Franklin also has a great display:

Downtown Nashville's is pretty epic and has been ranked in some national news outlets as having one of the tops in the nation. That said, no way I'd fight the crowds to see it.

If you're willing to invest the time, it's worth it. You have to come a little early and pick out a spot. Last year I lucked out and found a spot on Rolling Mill Hill overlooking the water....got one of the last "parking spaces" in the area.

are they going to do fireworks this year given how dry it is? Colorado scares me right now and we are probably just as dry

I'm not really a crowd kind of guy. Crowds + heat = a cranky DonCorleone.

I feel the same way, Don. But my kids love it, so we HAVE to go every year. I even had to plan our family vacation so we would not miss the fireworks here.

I know Brentwood's is still on. A professional company shoots the fireworks from the baseball fields, where it's mostly dirt and concrete and surrounded by firefighters.

Haven't heard about the other cities.

I like nashvols' idea about viewing them from a high vantage point without having to be in the crowd. There are places around town where you can park and watch, though you might miss some of the "boom."

I can't recall one being cancelled in the past...so I imagine they'll have it regardless of how dry it is.

I must say that I'm a little spoiled....carry my chair out the front door and plop it down in front of my house in East Park. It beats fighting the traffic

It was great. You're a good hundred feet or so above the river...with no obstructions like trees or buildings...and last year there was actually a nice breeze.

There were quite a few people there, but everyone had their own space. It wasn't shoulder to shoulder like it is at Riverfront. I've done Riverfront...it's a little too hot and crowded for me. That and people are constantly trying to squeeze in front of you to get a better spot.

But I imagine that Rolling Mill Hill won't stay a secret for long. Parking is tough, too. It was a good 30 minute trip to the interstate after the show (and fortunately we weren't blocked in).
