First and foremost -- budget. While your credit may hinder your ability to move where you want, we at least need a starting point before we can throw out suggestions.

Also -- you are a single mom...how old is your child? Are they school age, or will they be soon? If so, school district should be a consideration.

Do you have a job? If so, what area is the job? This can help us suggest places that wouldn't give you an ugly cross town commute. If you don't have a job, I think that will be imperative in order to find a place to live...both in terms of location and knowing what you can afford. Otherwise, you might find your fuel expenditures eating heavily into your budget.

Are you looking for a place in or close to the city, or would you rather be in a suburb or a less densely populated area?

Are there any other activities or amenities you feel are important or want to be close to? Shopping, parks, libraries, etc.

That's a very low budget for the current rental market, to be honest. I can't really say I know of anything that low. I think I would look in Donelson and Hermitage if at all possible, so you can stay close to work. I can't say I'm optimistic that you'll find anything you like.

Yeah, if you're looking for something in that price range that's any larger than a closet you'll be living in a slum and living in fear for your safety/well being...

You might find something if you downsize to a studio or even a one bedroom - at least just to start with. Here is a website . . doesn't look like any of the low income places are accepting applications at the moment but I'd start calling to see if you can find someone who can help:

Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency ? MDHA, Nashville, TN Development and Housing Issues | Home

Maybe you can move in with another single Mom for a while.

Try this website - put in your budget and towns. You can search on a map. NOT all listings are current but you might find something.

https://www.padmapper.com/

I found this place - has a one bed/one bath barely in your price range. I don't know how safe of an area it is but it's near the airport. Do try in Hermitage and Donelson, too, as Nashvols suggested.

Apartment Homes - Photos & Floor Plans

I think this is going to take some work on your part to find something in your price range BUT I think it might be possible. Best of luck!

You might think about a roommate; share a house. Maybe another single mother and the two of you could swap babysitting chores.
