I think the Two Rivers park flooded - maybe someone knows? I see you have a river in your back yard? Of course it's been pretty dry this year. I would just ask. Good luck at your job interviews!

No, I don't live there, but that is a nice area of Donelson. The property looks very nice. My concern would be that it is between the Cornelia Fort airport and Nashville's main airport in addition to the train track that is literally in the backyard. If you will be working odd shifts in the medical field and sleep is important, you may have to invest in white-noise machines.

Flooding will be the homeowner's concern, but I would have renter's insurance for the contents. Look thoroughly under the house for signs of flood damage, and ASK the rental agent outright if the property flooded. They are required to disclose.

The crime map doesn't look very busy in that area.

Thanks guys,

I immediately thought about the flood when I looked at it on the map. Funny W4L mentioned the white noise thing. We do darkening shades and and a fan 365 days a year already and only work day and afternoon shift, but my wife will be on midnights most likely. I saw the RR line on the map, but a light didn't go off about the noise from that. I left a lot of messages with agents today for properties on RealTracs so hopefully I will get some call backs tomorrow.

One agent texted me back that the property had already been rented out, but it's been listed on RealTracs for weeks. They must not update as much as I thought?

We'll see how this nice agent who contacted me through this forum can help us. He's going to send us a list tomorrow. He doesn't want a fee - only requested that we keep him in mid first for when we go to purchase. Seems nice.

I just hope things fall into place and we don't end up with a shack out of desperation. I'm sure we'll be fine.

Default Did a Google Earth timeline search

Google earth is just crazy - kinda scary what you can find on it. They have this rcazy feature called "timeline" where you can go back and look at past images of areas. This is awesome for checking on places that might have been flooded. It doesn't have images from every single day, but luckily it has images of the entire Nashville area from 5/4/2010. This property was not flooded surpisingly enough. Water didn't even make it into the sub actually, but if you scroll up to opryland it's a sad story - as you all know too well.

I live in Lincoya Hills - right across McGavick from the property you linked to and we love it. There is little noise from planes or trains. We do hear the McGavick high school band practice, though, and like it. There is very little crime here and that includes the neighborhood you were thinking of renting in. Too bad it went before you could. The Two Rivers area of Donelson is a wonderful place to live and seems to be a well kept secret. You can check out Hip Donelson on Facebook to get an idea of who your neighbors would have been.

I've been talking with the agent who represents the owner as recent as yesterday and he was checking on possible pet deposits. Maybe you know something I don't?

No one said it was going to be easy finding a decent rental and it is taking some work on our part, but we'll find something half way decent I think. I've got my deposit and then some, just have to find the right one. Plus, I don't want to end up renting from an over bearing landlord or property manager. That's always a bummer when that happens.

We passed on the property - quite junky and did not get a good feeling about the area it was in; not that block anyway. The place ran on propane - we don't have any experience with that, but seems kinda weird.

We hooked up with a nice place in Murfreesboro and the interviews apparently went great because we both start at Vanderbilt March 5th.
