I'm looking at some houses and a little bit confused.

I found 952 Strouse Ave, so I looked up the County website and found this:
Summary

Total Value is 148,200, and it is in the USD, so $4.516* per $100 Assessed Value

= $6,692.71

That is New York high. Did I do something wrong?

Property is taxed on 25% of the assessed value, so the taxes would be about $1670 on that property.

What she said.

Appraised value and assessed value are two different things.

Appraised value is what the county figures your house is worth. The assessed value is what you are taxed on, which is 25% of the appraised value.

(appraised value) /4 = (assessed value)
(assessed value) /100 = (per 100 of assessed value)
(per 100 of assessed value) x4.516 = taxes owed
