Moving to Nashville next month (made a thread not long ago) and was wondering if there is a good rock/metal scene here? I know that one of my favorite metal bands - Whitechapel - got started in Nashville. Nashville guru describes Elliston Place as the "Rock Block" which won't be far from where I live. Is this accurate? My second favorite genre is punk.

Yes, Eliston Place has a few clubs (Exit Inn, The End) and possibly another one that are mainly rock venues. There are also several clubs around town and especially in East Nashville that have rock acts.

Since you are moving to Nashville you could start with the Scene that may be better with rock bands. Maybe try Grimey's used records, McKay used books/CD's/vinyl.

The Basement has an eclectic mix of music (Basement East hasn't quite come around yet). But I prefer the underground scenes of Foobar and The Stone Fox. Third Man Records also books live recording sessions you can sit in on for $10 that range from Wanda Jackson to Death From Above. You can find just about every range, but it's scattered all over the city.
