Three friends of mine are intending to go to Nashville for a week next summer as part of covering Pokémon World Championships, all three aren't convinced it will be so great for them. as they are not country music fans, and what can they do in between and after events to insure they have non-Pokémon tournament related fun too?
Will Nashville be a huge let down for them or is it a big enough city to fit their tastes as well?
Please fill me up to let them know about great ideas of places and things to do. Also, they will have a car, so they will be able to access places in or around Nashville.

I hope they aren't coming between June 7-10, 2018 as that is CMA fest, aka Fanfare and is country music's biggest indoor/outdoor/interact with the fans event that is held.

They might like to take a showboat cruise on The General Jackson - an old paddle wheel showboat.

They might enjoy theater at TPAC.

They might enjoy just strolling in and out of all the stores on Broadway.

There is any ethnic type of food to eat you can think of and several craft beer places of business.

They really should go to Tootsies's whether they like country music or not -- at least get their picture taken in front of the building.

Cheekwood Gardens should definitely be on their list of places to visit -even if they aren't fond of flower gardens -- the old Mansion alone is worth the time to visit.

I tried posting some links but I lost everything.

I am over an hour south of Nashville, so I've just told you everything I can remember at the moment.

Hopefully those with better knowledge will come in.

I had to attend a 4-day conference/convention in Nashville some years ago, and also am not a fan of country music.

We were at the Opryland Hotel - which certainly would never be my choice of accommodation (too over-the-top), but if your friends aren't staying there, it's worth a gawk for a few hours.

On the few occasions we were able to escape the conference -

We went to Tootsie's, which was great fun. Loved it, in spite of the music genre. Actually, I seem to remember it wasn't all flat-out country.

We visited a plantation house (don't remember where, but it wasn't far).

One evening we went to the Bourbon Street Blues and Boogie Bar in Printer's Alley - a bit cheesy, but at least it wasn't country! We had a good night.

Hope this helps.

Even though Nashville's bread is buttered with the money made from country music, Nashville's moniker is Music City, not Country Music City. There are scads of non-country concerts all over the place. Even the Mother Church of Country Music, the historic Ryman Auditorium, hosts dozens of non country acts throughout the year. Check its web site as time approaches to see what's coming up.

Likewise, downtown's Ascend Amphitheater hosts dozens of non country concerts, too.

The magnicicent Schermerhorn Symphony Center is easily one of the country's finest symphony halls. The Grammy Award-winning Nashville Symphony often has guest musicians from the rock world perform with them.

And then, of course, there's Bridgestone Arena which is one of the world's busiest music venues.

The Gulch/West End has plenty of establishments that aren't centered around country music. That area of town has grown in popularity in recent years.
