Default Tennessee - Folks with brains not wanted to jury duty

So my wife, the soon-to-be pharmacist, is reading up on the law so she can pass her licensing exam here in Tennessee. While studying she stumbles across the fact all doctors, lawyers, pharmacists, CPA's, RN's, etc., are exempt from jury duty? What's the deal? Do the local prosecutors not want anybody who can think to be on jury duty?

If you are self employed you can be excused, which would account for some of the occupations you listed. Nurses are not necessarily excused. My wife is a nurse and has served.

This is not always and necessarily the case. Many occupations are excluded depending on the case and many of the ones's listed above are not always excluded no matter the case. As a matter of fact, an RN that works for me just served a couple of weeks ago.
