$350.00-375.00 when it's in the teens.

I do have 4,000 sq ft home and keep it at 72 degrees.
2 units-1 up 1 down. 10 years old-Maybe they are not that efficient.(Trane)

I have some friends in Wisconsin and the upper Midwest and they claim their nat gas bill is only $98.00 or so when it's really cold.

After all the USA is now the biggest producer of Natural Gas in the World-One would think with so much natural gas the price would go down?

I may just have to build some gas lines from here to my wells in Louisiana!!

At least my electric bill isn't that much in Summer.

I lived in Northern Illinois more than 20 years ago, and my gas bill was never under $ 100 in the Winter. I think your friends embellished their story.

More than likely you don't have enough insulation. Better check the upstairs attic and underneath the house. Most air leaks are found in the floors. And the windows too.

My home on the TN-GA border is about the same size as yours, but I have R40 walls and floors and R28 in the ceiling. I use LP gas last winter - it cost me $900 for four months.
