We haven’t had a Winter Storm Warning in 5 years. The last one was also around Presidents Day in 2015. I remember because I did NOT go stock up on fun Storm food ahead of time. I guess with Covid, we are better prepared for snow and ice. I read that to get local state road conditions you can dial (sorry, punch) 5-1-1. Will give it a try tomorrow. I love the snow. Ice, not so much. Quick! Go buy milk and bread!!

And a sled!

I've got a bad feeling about this one considering it is forecasted to start with freezing rain for 8 hours+ and then a mix followed by 4 inches of snow.

I put the odds of my power going out at better than 80%; for how long is anyone's guess. I have plenty of food, a reliable heat source and a good book I am reading.

I'm not even thinking about getting out on the road Monday and it may be later in the week before I venture out.

What should we expect as far as long it will take them to clear the roads once the snow stops? A few inches is not a lot of snow, but if Nashville has like 2 plows then it could take a while.

TDOT will handle the interstates first. Low temps thru Tuesday will make that a tough job. Getting out onto state highways will take longer. The combination of 0.25in ice under 2-4 inches of snow makes it dangerous to travel. For most it will be Wed or Thurs when temps get above 32. It will be Saturday before temps get back into 40's with low temp over freezing.

Our best chance is if NES crews have trimmed enough trees to keep power lines up. Recovery will depend how long it takes to get the wires back up. In an ice storm the wild card is how much wind breaks power lines. In a really bad storm expect crews to come in from other utilities.

One way to keep track is to monitor WeGo Nashville bus routes to see if they keep operating or go onto snow routes. If it is too icy they may suspend operations. For schools good to have Monday holiday then have snow emergency days. May be Thurs-Friday for bus to get thru on icy back roads.

I was planning on making a trip to Nashville this weekend (Coming in to Nashville Thursday Morning and staying until Sunday)

I am getting different weather information - for those that are in Nashville what are the conditions like and do you think we will be fine coming in Thursday or just cancel and plan the trip elsewhere?

I am coming from 8 hours away and plan to drive the way there and back.

Currently snow covered streets downtown. I saw a plow last night. They just don't have sufficient equipment which is why streets are snow covered.

It might snow a bit on Wednesday and Thursday too. While we are expecting clear weather this weekend, if it were me, I'd reschedule.

I read online that only "primary" and "secondary" roads get plowed. So I guess everyone else, including where I live downtown, is just out of luck? I guess this is the downside to no state or local income taxes.

??? It's more to do with the fact that areas that seldom see snow don't keep a lot of snow removal equipment. If you live inside city limits you'll get cleared, you just take a back seat to the more important roads which get plowed first. Pretty sure it's like that just about everywhere, priorities and logistics you know.
