Hey Everyone! I am sitting here, in the bonus room, waiting to see what these storms have in store for us tonight.

For the people new to TN, get used to these bad storms. Yes, we have tornados. I have been here since 94 and I am yet to get used to the severe weather. I am from New Jersey. A tornado is rare there.

So, that's what I am doing now.

While I am at it, I'd like to wish the moms, grandmothers, etc...a very Happy Mother's Day!

Steve

Uh OH I didn't know storms were coming! I'm from NY and a few years back we actually had a tornado hit us upstate. I don't remember much other then a few trailers in a park were wrecked in Mechanicville. I'm more scared of lighting.... Kinda happens when it hits 1 foot above your head and blows something up!

Just stay tuned to channels 2, 4, or 5. They can pinpoint severe weather down to the exact street.

I have friends that say I am an alarmist when it comes to the weather, but I think I am just facing reality. I don't have my family sleeping in the bathtub tonight so far. It is my responsibility to keep them safe.

Been here 11 years now, reality is more folks die each year falling in their bathtubs during showers and baths, than via tornados.

Bob - I am not doubting that, but I also know that tornados don't just kill "other" people. Experience has taught me to never adopt the attitude that disasters can't happen to me and only happen to others.

Ah, this is music to my ears. I'm originally from Kentucky and I really MISS those violent, booming thunderstorms of springtime. We don't get storms like that up here in Boston. There's nothing like sitting outside on a covered porch and listening to the howling winds and rain. I can't wait until we move to Nashville so I can experience them again.

My musing aside, tornados are obviously more serious than thunderstorms, and I do hope no one is seriously hurt.

Steve, Tornados do hit NJ. I was witness to this one. Fortunatlly, I lived 5 miles away from where it hit.
USATODAY.com - Forecasters confirm tornado struck N.J. town
It was classified as an F2
