You've seen frequent industry hot shots at all of these? Great music, sure, but I've never seen Dann Huff hanging at the Wildhorse, you know?

On the other hand, Ben Folds DOES shop at Grimey's, just like us.

Okay, mine was more of just a music venue list...I know Sheryl Crow was at the Family Wash about a month ago listening to a friend play, and Reeves Gabrial (Davie Bowies old guitarist) plays and hangs out there.

The Family Wash at 2038 Greenwood (cor. Porter Rd) in East Nashville is a veritable crossroads for notable musicians who both hang and perform there. Indeed, it's a fine place to find Reeves Gabrels [note spelling] who was indeed David Bowie's guitarist 1989-1999. Gabrels plays there with his own trio ("Reeves Gabrels and His Imaginary Friends) as well as others.

Just this past week, in fact, Bryan Owings (Buddy & Julie Miller, Patty Griffin...) and Jay Bellerose (Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, Beck...) took the stage with Marco Giovino to form a wall of three drummers behind Family Wash Owner James "Jamie" Rubin whose band "The Magnificent Others" in addition to Giovino include Gabrels on guitar and Bones Hillman (Midnight Oil) on upright bass as regular members. Audley Freed (Peter Frampton, Black Crowes, Cry of Love) joined the proceedings on guitar as well. On other occasions, it's been Stu Kimball of the current Bob Dylan band who's picked up the 3rd or 4th guitar.

Let's see, who else hangs there? Steel guitarist Pete Finney (Patti Loveless), songwriter/performers Kevin Gordon, Kylie Harris, Warren Pash...

The monthly schedule for the Family Wash is at www.familywash.com -- but there's lots that happens that isn't scheduled.
