Fall foliage (best time, schedule, year)

My trip in September looks like it will not happen. I will be able to come a bit later however. When is the best time for Fall color, as my wife loves to take photo's?

In Middle Tennessee you can generally sees some nice colors all through October; the peak being sometime in mid to late October. However, it varies from year to year. I've seen it whether the best colors were in early October, and I've seen it where the best were all the way into early November. If I was trying to pick out the best time this year, I would probably guess mid October.

Hello,

I will make a tour from Boston to Montreal in the first two weeks in October.
Is this a good time to see the fall foliage in this area? Or will I'm to late for the wonderful coulers?
