I'm a union electrician with 17 years experience, and would like to know the work outlook in Nashville.

Commercial construction continues at a pretty healthy clip here. I don't know whether the slowdown in residential construction has caused a decreased demand for electricians or not.

Not Good Here!~My husband has been in the local for 33 years. We have lived here our whole lifes and it is to the point that we are considering relocating across the country. Union is slowly fading in the south.Still some work, depending on what your area is, my husband is an industrial electrician. We also have contract issues going on at the present time, and it is not looking good!

Check the pay scale and fringes too. My son's room mate (Nashville) is an electrician from Michigan and according to him the pay was $10/hr less. He was working lots of overtime the last I knew.
