I just looked at some recent climate models, and what I was able to draw from the projections for the next hundred years was that in Ohio we may be getting 2-3 more warm weekends during football season where it is warm enough to grill out, and I may be able to break out my shorts a few weeks earlier in the spring. Is there any way we can speed up the process?
In all seriousness, there are going to be pros and cons associated with climate change, from loss of seaside real estate to longer growing seasons and easier shipping routes. Does the United States have more to gain or lose if significant warming does occur?
Personally I think the US will lose, but other countries will lose a whole lot harder. Canada and Russia might come out ahead. China is in the same boat as the US. I would not want to be seriously invested in the Netherlands.
I don't think the policy driver should necessarily be the US's economic interests, but some will see it that way, especially since many of our geopolitical rivals (Iran, Venezuela, Arab countries, etc.) appear to be on the short end of the stick.
