I agree that is a spectacularly beautiful cheetah BUT I totally disagree with letting a bunch of yahoos with cameras invade the living space of a species that is facing the possibility of extinction. Though the idea of a tour is all fine and good, I guarantee you that if that poor creature had made one wrong move, someone would have put a bullet in her in a heartbeat. It is just not right for human beings to feel so superior to every single creature on earth that we feel we have to encroach on territory that is home to someone else. I realize my opinion is my own and probably will not be popular with most people, but dammit, that is the home of that cat and she deserves to live there and be able to hunt, mate, and raise her young without the danger of human beings spoiling her habitat. She could just as easily have ended up dead as well as she finally roamed off. That just upsets me. There.....I said it.
Since that tourism is one of the last hopes for keeping some of those endangered species alive, I have to say one should keep that in mind.
This was definitely a bit freaky - and could have gone a lot of ways, for sure. That cat, at first, seemed to have a "wtf are u doing in MY territory, I am annoyed" attitude. She was definitely showing some signs of being a little stressed at first. They tend to like high spots to get a view from - so maybe she thought the car might be a decent lookout. She got up there - and wasn't looking aggressive, but definitely a little stressed. This must have gone on for quite a few minutes though - and she just decided to get comfy and live with it.
Pretty amazing. I agree that the car occupants were lucky. Very lucky. I think the guy in front moved way more than was wise. Picking that camera up? Man - I don't think that was smart. Outside of that, he did ok.

Absolutely. Those "yahoos with the camera" keep the African national parks and reserves alive, which is the only reason these animals haven't been hunted to extinction.
Cheetahs are the most tameable big cats, not that it's a good idea to do that. Just that they are better with humans than other big cats. This one probably visits these caravans a lot. That is likely why it looked so at home and didn't even look at the humans right next to it. All in a day's work to the cheetah.
Awesome video...and slightly disturbing! I kept wondering, is that cheetah really wild or what? Well, I'm glad it ended well.
