OP...Is this on your property, or just a random pic that you took in the wild?? I'd be very concerned about your pets and livestock if you have any, if it is on your land.
It's on my property, but 1/2 mile from my house. Dogs are kept indoors and the only we livestock we have are chickens, ducks and Guinea Fowl. All of which are locked safely in a coop at night.

I was posting in reference to the one quoted, who leaves anonymous jabs about where a person lives??

The face and ears look more dog than coyote, but the body and tail could be. Looks nothing like mine did in the Berdo mountains in CA. I googled large Texas ones, and doesn't look like them ether, imo. Cool pic's OP, thanks for sharing.

Definitely a coyote.

The muzzle is too pointed to be a domestic dog. The only dogs with that small a muzzle are small dogs, which this isn't. That and the bushy tail give it away. Tails like that don't "wag"!

Another vote for Coyote, consistent with what others have already noted about tail, etc.

Brodi, did it start eating the deer from the hind quarters? That's typical behavior of a coyote.

Back legs looks like a coyote type as the front legs are longer then the back legs and the back frame is unusually slanted , as these animals can run fast with front leg drive

That's a beauty! We have hundreds of coyotes running around Los Angeles. I see them walking down the sidewalks around dawn in the residential neighborhoods.

I thought the same thing as you. Could be the black and white night vision is playing tricks on our minds.

Something IS off ... beautiful animal though.

It's ... in the face somehow. Can't quite describe it. And the posture for sure.

Was it the only animal your camera sighted? I've never seen a lone Coyote; always in packs.

Nope, sometimes coyotes are loners or just two, liked a mated pair. That was usually the case in the desert. When they're in packs, you have to watch it...they are NOT harmless, depending on the situation.
