I truly believe Grand Island will have at least 48,000 in the 2010 count (remember the census bureau undercounts Nebraska cities; with few exceptions).

Grand Island will be considered a metro in a few years.

Papillion will be the fifth largest by 2010. I suspect it will pass Kearney near the end of that decade.

Could happen, but that's because they've got a steroid named Omaha pumping them up.

Really? Grand Island has been doing well lately, besides, it would be good for Nebraska to have another Metro.

According to wikipedia there was an estimate in 2009 that put GI at 49,802.... did the city do their own estimate? and if so, WOW! Grand Island has done really well.

Yes, my wife and I moved here in October 2009. I grew up here and left in 83 but am now on disability and small town U.S.A. is easier to survive in with disability check.

The welcome wagon lady that stopped by our house said McCook was growing a few people a week for a long time. Mostly retired people and the young. There are several job openings in paper every day in a range of pay grades.
