Shame on the La Vista Mayor for defending bigotry. I think Mayor Kindig could have presented himself better when asked about religion in a city event.

His response was totally inappropriate, but he has every right to he a part of a religious service that honors veterans. He did acknowledge what he said was wrong and apologized, so that should be the end of that part of the issue. He has every right to honor veterans at a religious service. He is not saying the city is endorsing a specific religion, he is there with honor and respect to veterans, not to be disrespectful of people with other beliefs.

You may want to move this to the Omaha sub-forum. You will get more readers and commenters there. Most people that read about the Omaha area go straight to the Omaha sub-forum and don't look at the the main forum for Nebraska.

The whole concern was that tax payers were paying for a religious service.
