The difference between Nebraska and other midwestern states is that there are no professional sports franchises based within the state. Not only that, but there are no other division I Universities (aside from Hockey at UNO and Creighton basketball). Iowa has UI and Iowa state and Kansas has KU and KState; so at least there is some dual fandom. Nebraska football is insanely popular because there are no other football teams to cheer for.....didn't like 60,000 people show up for a ****ing scrimmage in April?

I was in total shock on how much tags are for license plates and how high property taxes are for houses that are around $100,000. Everyone says the houses are so cheap but then the hit you with the property taxes. We are originally from Colorado where the houses may be alittle more but you can get more house for your money because the property taxes are so low. I have to admit our experience here will last a lifetime but the cost of taxes and the extremely high humidity isn't for us. I can say tho the people have been very friendly for the most part. I haven't really run into to many who have been rude. Good luck to you for moving here. I don't know where you are originally from but it was such a culture shock to us. We are getting out and I'm sure everyone is saying good riddance.
Extremely high humidity? Has the state of Nebraska relocated?

I'll trade ya some Gulf Coast humidity for Great Plains humidity. I'll agree on the property taxes (especially in Western Nebraska, those were unlike anything I've seen), but the registration on vehicles is high in a lot of places. You should see how much we charge in Mississippi and Louisiana for registration.

Agreed. Nebraska is not a high humidity state. We may have a few of those days in the year, but we have more sun and less humidity than 2/3rd of the states in the nation.
