I am looking at moving to Lincoln Ne and have read a lot of negative statements about moving there. In those statements comments were made that the people who live there do not accept anyone from the outside moving in. In fact the words used in several statements were referring to the attitude of people living here as belonging in the twillight zone.

I would like to hear from people that do live there some positive things about their community.

I would be coming to Lincoln with a disabled adult and because of the income that is provided to him to live on, he would be living in a lower income section of Lincoln. The four reports that I read about Lincoln all stated that if your living in the lower income section of town - well one said "good luck" andother said "you will be mistreated" another said "the cops will harrassed" and the other said "get the h-- out of Lincoln".

I would like to hear from people that do llive there now that the above statements are not the average attitude shown to people who move into a lower income section of town if indeed they are wrong..

Now I have also read that the services for the disabled are very good there and I can not understand the two reports - good services for the disabled and poor attitude of the residence of the area - will someone express to me what they think about what kind of acceptance a disabled adult man would receive in their town?

Thank you for your input.

Plenty of people from all over the world live in Lincoln, Ne and are really happy here. The University is full of international and out of state students and faculty and we have a lot of businesses drawing people to move here too. There are lower income areas that are still charming. I don't know if you've made your move yet and I'm sorry you heard such negative comments in advance of experiencing it for yourself but I think its very possible for a lower income disabled person to be treated well in Lincoln.

I really don't understand how anybody can say Lincoln doesn't accept anyone from the outside moving in. I don't even know how that would be possible in a city of a quarter-million people.

Lincoln is going to be a typical small university city. You'll find a lot of diversity there, from exceptionally good to really really bad.

I'm sorry I can't be of any more help than that.
