Ely White Pine County is one of the best Counties in the country, for an outdoors person. For an indoors person, might as well stay where you are

In order from best to worst, I would say Winnemucca, Ely and then Lovelock. They are all remote. Winnemucca probably has the better shopping of all three. There is a Walmart, a 2-screen movie theater, some nice restaurants and a golf course. It's on the interstate and Amtrak stops there. On the other hand, Lovelock is slowly dying with much of the main street boarded up. Shopping in Lovelock amounts to a Safeway store.

Is it worth moving to any of these towns?? That's up to you and whether you like small towns or need a bigger town to live in with more amenities. BTW, Elko is almost twice the size of Winnemucca and you might want to look into that.

Of the three, Winnemucca will have the most shopping available. As mentioned previously, There's a Walmart, a couple of grocery stores, and assorted other shopping. It's within a couple of hours or Reno, which is where you'll have to do any major shopping or specialty health care. Lovelock is between Winnemucca and Reno, and is the smallest town of the three with the least amount of stores available, but is closer to Reno. Ely is ok for shopping. You could get most anything you needed here, but you'll pay for it. It's also the furthest for shopping. Closest Walmart is 180 miles away in Elko, and for other shopping it's 250 miles to Salt Lake or Vegas or Twin Falls, 300 to Reno. When I first moved to Ely we went out of town almost every weekend, but in the years since, it's been much less, just a few times a year.
