I have, own aprox. 4.8 acres of land in northern Nevada, I want to be able to process small amounts of gold or silver on my own property without no machinery. A shovel, cold chisel, mortar pestle, some amalgamate...(type that is not harmful to environment) a ufo furnace no bigger then a shoe box...small in size, is all that I will be using. The gold, silver that is here...maybe...( I have not tried processing) is not enough to get rich at.
I am retired, on social security, I am afraid government or some big corporation is going to screw that up. I want to try something with an income to survive just in case.
What kind of mineral rights do I need, also where can I get it?

Odds are there is nothing on your property, but if you did not get mineral rights then you cannot process it for minerals, if you did, give it a shot. There is plenty of BLM land you can prospect on, go talk the folks at your local BLM office, they can give you info to stay legal, and pointers on where to look. If you find gold, you can file a claim on it so nobody else can (legally) mine it. Unless you want to deal with LOTS of red tape, you will be limited to simple mining methods ie NO heavy equipment. Good luck

I think you likely need a trip to your county clerk's office. You need to see what rights you actually have. I'm guessing that's where they'd be recorded.
