Here are some photos of Rhyolite, a ghost town just west of Beatty. This is a barren spot with no trees, so lumber had to be hauled in. Most homes and other buildings were built from the earth, and once the town was abandoned they didn't last long. Rhyolite had a short, fast life... You can get more info about it at

definitely worth the trip!
