that's really low balling for a house rental. Home owners in southern NH pay that much in property taxes each month. The lakes region (Winnipesaukee) has been priced for millionaires only.

look at NNEREN.com - there are a few rentals there.

It may still be possible to get a seasonal rental in the lakes region. Typically, the summer people go home to NY, CT, MA, etc. and prefer to have somebody living in, heating and taking care of their summer homes. It's a good way to become familiar with the area, all the while knowing that as the weather warms in spring, you'll be looking for a new place. Weekly summer rental prices are similar to monthly off-season rental prices.
