The front end squiggles hops and wiggles, road snakes, make you dodge and swerve
The surface waves and drops your bike bounces and bops, as you navigate it round that curve
New Hampshire back road riding, among the scent of cow dung, mowed fields and pine
Feet propped on the highway bars, cruising at sixty, passing some cars,
back roads where the living is fine
Find a spot to tuck away the bike, get off go for a hike, maybe catch a little wild life if you know what I mean
Sitting sharing a waterfall view, soaking our feet in a stream
Going ninety miles an hour passing the scenery by just ain't for me.
I have to get off the bike, walk around and handle what I see.
New Hampshire back road riding takes me to New Hampshire's earlier time
Feet propped on the highway bars, cruising at sixty, passing some cars,
back roads where the living is fine
Never met a stranger that wasn't a character, a grand memory to be had
Never had an encounter so sour as to leave a taste that's permanently bad
New Hampshire back road riding, an adventure round each sign
Feet propped on the highway bars, cruising at sixty, passing some cars,
the back roads where the living is fine
I completely agree but I wonder when NH is going to build roads on some of the back of beyond routs? I was on one where the primal swamp, let alone colonial gravel, was the surface. My current m'cycle is not a rocket ship (that one is for sale) and just right for back road cruising. Did you ever see "Unckle Sam's" house?

One of these days we just gotta bump into one another...... i was up in Pike a weekend ago.... What's that old factory there? It had a forge inside once.... I got a few pics of that place, and if you want any don't be waitin' too long...
I just tried to find PIKE on a map. What towns is it near?
Greg, Pike is part of Haverhill NH, it is on route 25 between Warren and Haverhill I was nearby yesterday, I took 25C into Warren from route 10.. depending on the rest of the week, I may give you a call Friday.
That whole upper vally area is nice riding. Then there is Sullivan county. Winding roads , lousey cell phone service and next to no traffic. A bikers dream . Forgotten NH , or as we always say when its time for a ride , noth by northwest.
I just googled Pike, NH and the old mill produced weaving bobbins for looms back in the day. Now wouldn't that make a great shop?
Greg, I fear the place is doomed to the 21st century as the roof has caved in as has much of any floor timbers in the main shop. The annex shop still intact has a brick forge, but the tools are mainly missing peeking thru a broken window.
I sort of get pics of building from the past, and about to be caved in altogether... One day these pics will be all that's left of some bits of early America. Already the collective we, have no idea of the skills it took to make most items, and we loose that more and nmore as time passes and or we don't need the tool/item anymore.
One day people will say ' If it can't be done by the push of a button, it just can't be done.'
I still have a bike with a real kick starter, and folks look as if i am the one who has gone insane when i use it.
