We are relocating to NH from Miami. Both my husband and I work full time and are looking for a quality pre-school for our two year old twins that extends through the day. It seems as though everyplace we find either doesn't start until 3 or is only a few hours a day. I am assuming that we can't be the only people who work full time with kids under 3 so I am hoping that someone can recommend a school. We were thinking that we'd stay in the Bedford/Amherst area but we'll probably live wherever we can find a good school.

Help!

Hi Grit. Your post says you are looking for a full-day pre-school. In all honesty, I don't think such a thing exists. Even pre-K and K are not full-day programs. Pre-K is usually 3 hours long, with day care available before and/or after. You might consider some of that type of all-inclusive program that's available at the local preschool/daycares. I've heard really good things about Bedford Village Morning School, but it exactly that: a morning school excpet for the arts programs in the afternoon for kindergarden-age children. A local Kindercare or Bright Horizons center might have programs you're interested in. Both are nationwide chains that provides school and daycare under 1 roof. I may send you a PM with contact information for a friend in Amherst who has pre-school age children. IMO there is nothing quite as valuable as a direct referral, especially when it comes to our kids...

Ask one of your mothers or hire a full time nanny. One of you could take a leave of absence for a few years or does their work from home. Kids are expensive. That is one of the reasons we do not have any.

Bedford has a Kindercare. Both my neighbor and a woman in my moms group have used/are using them, and they love it. It's expensive, as far as childcare options go, but it probably provides what you're looking for.
