Hey All

My hubby and I really want to move to NH from upstate NY. We are coming out on vacation next month and we love it there it reminds me of home ( Scotland). We want to explore more places that we might want to move to other than the well known ones. This is what we are looking for somewhere where close to jobs admin and care work my hubby is a secretary and home care. Affordable housing to rent first then buy later on we do not have a ton of money our budget will be under $165,000 for housing. We are also looking for churches we want a modern contemporary church. We have no children yet only a dog and would like to be with 1.5 hours from the ocean. City or suburbs not out in the middle of the country.

Any help you can give us will be really helpful for our trip we just love NH and life is too short to live anywhere else

[quote=scottishlassie;10259128]Hey All

because of your budget I would look around Concord NH

the southern 1/2 of the state is within 1.5 hours of the coast.

North of Concord stay close to Rte 93

I moved from Upstate NY to NH and lived in Laconia and Manchester, Concord is half way in between and is the state Capitol. I really loved Laconia when I lived there so, you might want to check it out. Now living and Florida on the westcoast (sarasota area) and loving it! When you get tired of the cold and snow come on down. Best wishes!

I am moving to the Dover area this fall, from "downstate New York," Long Island. Dover is close to Portsmouth, which is a great small city, and I think the area just north and west of Portsmouth meets your needs. Definitely take a look around there!

with your housing budget you"ll either bein the middle of the city(which is where the most crime rates are) Or cheaper ent and housing..which would be more affordable and cheaper rent..I live in a town called canaan NH. about 30 mins from the largest hospital in NH(which is where i work) and is a GREAT career for your hubby if he's in health care. Downfall is it's VERY quiet and 3hrs from the ocean. Concord is a good idea.. you might also want to check out Lebanon..which is where the hudge hospital is. althougu rent around there is pretty exspensive and they are very strict about animals. yo could also try Laconia....

With that budget I would check some of the small towns away from the coast in southwest Maine. Somersworth and the Berwicks come to mind.
