Why do our politicians/state officials close eyes to corruption
Why, because the voters allow it.
Why, because voting has no impact on institutional corruption
Corruption is relative. Corruption at the feeding trough is different than corruption as fleeced resident sees it. It has become so common it is hard to see and we have short term memories so it is difficult to gain a perspective of widespread corruption. The resulatant perception is that all corruption is done in isolation.
No one has consolidated a list of NJ political atrocities that can be view at a glance. Memory of convictions and charges is short term. We need CORRUPTION AT A GLANCE calendars. Anniversary dates we can track to celebrate the conviction and 'legal' scams of our elected officials. Each month would feature a collage of miscreants slated for that month's celebration. Would be neat if there was a 'sticky' on this site that allowed posters to list links to issues dating back to the early days. Everyone could contribute rather than having one person go through old newspapers, etc. An excel spreadsheet with several sort options. As you find a link or scan a news item, post it. Each of us is familiar with different items based on location. how neat would that be. Create standardized terms and field names so the data can be programmed or, cough, cough, sorted in excel.
Corruption is profitable.
Corruption is endemic in NJ.
Target rich environment
Creative use of legal language clouds issues to the point we have no clue as to the implication of policies, laws and procedures. example: What did you really vote for when you voted YES to public question #1 in the last election?
So the legal lattitude shapes the attitude. "Looks like we can get away with it. What do you think Mr Esquire?". "So you mean we are really operating in the spirit of the law?". Corrupt or creative? You decide.
How does a Superior Court transcript go missing before it can be typed. (Does this only happen in New Jersey?)
The cover-up on this goes all the way up to Governor Jon Corzine's office. McGreevey had a file on my charges. But after McGreevey left office, his replacement, Richard Cody and Corzine never anwser my letters or return phone calls.
The cover-up to this, also goes into NJ Attorney General's office and the NJ Office of Attorney Ethics. I'm trying to get my NJ state senator (Steve Oroho) and assemblywoman (Alison McHose) involved, but they are passing the buck. They are not returning phone calls back to people who are calling them for me. One of the people calling and not getting return calls for me is a thirty (30) year veteran of the Marine Corps, Colonel John Bates, retired.
However, Congressman Scott Garrett's office is going to soon release a letter requesting that my state legislative representatives have a meeting with me over my evidence. Some of his staff have already reviewed some of my evidence.
I agree. It's more like you scratch my back and our scratch your back (in corruption).
