I am currently seeking a move to Holmdel. I am doing as much research as possible on the area to find any potential problems I may encounter or am unaware of.

Recently came across blog that in 2009 the politicians of township voted for sewer lines to be expanded throughout Holmdel. Haven't come across anything more recent but the residents seem upset that this will legally open up large areas to increased housing and development, which would lead to overcrowded schools and traffic. Also, the beauty of the town would be at risk. Also would cost approx 30k according to the blog for homeonwner to connect to sewer and homeowners are req'd by law to do so.

I would be stretching a bit to get the house we want, not ready to get hit w/ 30k bill.

Can anyone elaborate on any recent developments (can't find anything written since last year) about this issue? What are feelings on the issue? Would it really be that bad for the township?

I don't know anything about this particular situation but I am assuming 30k is for a new house to be connected to the public sewer system. This is typical if you are building your own house. If you are purchasing an existing home or a new construction from the builder this should already be taken care of. If a house you are looking at currently has septic then possibly you would have to pay to connect that house to the public sewer system if the township requires it. This is just speculation. Hopefully someone on this forum can give you some more information.
