My daughter would be going to elementary school in Nutley in 2011.

My question is:

Is the one nearest to home the school that she'd go to even if the ranking is not good (does ranking matter at all at KG?)

The problem is: The one nearest to our home in Nutley is the one which is ranked lowest around. The others however have a ranking of 5. Now, how can I choose another school (rank 5 ones) over this one (rank 2).

Yes you usually attend the school closest to your home. I think all the elementary schools in Nutley are the same. They all have their good and bad points. Look at the NJ DOE report card for test scores - don't just go by a parent ranking sites. One of the nicest things about attending the school closest to home - is when your kids make friends (when they get older) they can walk to their friends house.

Nutley elementary schools are decent.....Yantacaw being the best followed by Spring Garden. However, I STRONGLY advise you to look for a different middle school (7th & 8th grade)....maybe even high school. John Walker Middle School aka Franklin Middle School is not a good school by any means. They have a bad drug problem & horrible teachers who have tenure.

Wonder if this was posted by a former student with a PROBLEM? or a troll?
If the elementary schools have no problem, and the kids graduating from there have no problem, then tell us how the middle school became a problem??
