i'm on the fence if that first one is a McMansion. Maybe by size of house relative to the lot size, but it doesn't seem all the big on the exterior (I know it's nearly 3200 sq ft).
As I mentioned in an earlier post, most "McMansions" are on several acres in my town, so I don't know if that qualifies as a "McMansion" - so confusing. Case in point:

Do you think this is a McMansion, despite the fact it's on nearly 3 acres?
I need to know this so I can properly categorize people and their dwellings! LOL
You can't see the rest of the neighborhood in those photos, but I'm pretty familiar with it. There's about 50 of that exact house lined up, one after the other on the same tiny lots. Personally, I'd own that house in a heartbeat, nothing wrong with it at all and it's in a beautiful area around the golf club, but it does fit what I consider to be a "McMansion".
As for the one you posted, architectually it's definitely got that "McMansion" look, it's even built by Toll Brothers, lol. However, it is on a rather large lot so doesn't meet the exact definition. If there's other similar houses in the development, then I would say "McMansion". If it's a standalone house, then probably not, lol.

it's in a development with a bunch of similar toll brothers houses.
so it's a mcmansion - i happen to agree.
whew - i'm glad now I can judge people properly!!! LOL
actually Goat the desciption is "A Palace".. I know the thread is Mcmansions but i just couldnt help myself.
I like the Moorsetown actual mansion better.
the mcmansion has an asking price of 595k and the mansion is asking almost $3 million. its funny how people with less expensive and uglier homes attack other homes that are nicer than theirs, but not the nicest homes since those people cant afford them. its an interesting mentality. "oh your house is a mcmansion, its ugly and has nothing unique about it. mansions are really nice and interesting homes, your home is crap." well, the mcmansion owner probably cant afford a $3 million home and your home is probably worse than both. its no different than if i make fun of some person for their crappy home that they own because they cant afford a nicer home.
