THANK YOU CHRISTIE...while I do not see eye to eye with him on certain issues, he scores big points with me on this one.

NJ taxpayers would be on the hook for $1B-5.5B estimated overruns...because you know NJ never overruns any large scale projects:P

I don't understand, if this thing is so damn important then we should've been saving for it all along. Or make sure we have all the CASH UPFRONT to pay it. That's what you call fiscal responsibility which is a new term for the past bunch of White House administrations and Congresses.

And on a side note I can't wait for the day Senator Lautenberg and Menendez are removed from office...I don't understand how they keep getting voted back in. With people like that in Congress, its no wonder we've been in this spend now, pay it later mode.

Ok rant over

This truly amazes me. Obama spends about a trillion on stimulus, not many jobs created at all and the feds can't pay the difference in the cost of this tunnel that was 20 years in the making. This was the largest public works project in the nation and we walk away from it. Thousands of good jobs down the drain.

Hopefully the $$$ will not be spent on Highway projects and go straight to funding projects like the MOM network , West Trenton , Cape May , Newark - Elizabeth , PATH extension and Riverline extensions.

I said it before and I'll say it again. This sucks for everyone in a town on the Bergen or Main NJTLine. Christie just cost us all $20K-$30K in home equity. Could really care less what they use the money for now as I'm sure it will not benefit me or my family. Thanks again!

Well, it sure wasn't going to benefit me and my family here in South Jersey. Anyway, I'm glad he canceled it, because it was poorly planned to begin with. I think they should represent it, in a manner that works much better, and in the mean time put the money that had been set aside into some kind of savings fund so that we can have the money to build it in the future and the money to fix the current crumbling infrastructure that we currently have.

That is kind of short sighted since increased home equity/value= higher taxes and those are the same tax dollars that help support you and your community's needs. You should read The Times article. This cancellation has a negative impact on everyone in NJ, but the biggest negative impact for my neck of the woods.

Is it more or less shortsighted than going another x billion in debt?

Yep!

Despite being a registered Democrat, I always vote against them but they always get re-elected.

I can't stand 'em!
