I know it's late, so I don't mind if you don't see this before tomorrow:

Anyways, I'm driving down to Newark airport tomorrow and was wondering what the fastest way to go was. Either 95 straight down or across the Tappan Zee to the Garden State to route 78?? 95 is the straightest way and probably easiest way to get there, however the GSP to 78 will probably be quicker. I'll be leaving here about 8:00, so I figure 95 will be a parking lot all the way to Seacaucus, New Jersey.

Also, anyone know how easy it is to find parking?? Usually when I fly out of there I'm going by myself, so I don't worry about the driving/parking/traffic hassle and I just take the train down, however I'm going with my grandfather and our flight back Sunday night gets in after the last Amtrak train leaves. I've driven down there once before....to pick up my cousin....and I got hopelessly lost just trying to find the Southwest terminal, so I can't imagine trying to find long/short term parking.

I think your problem is going to be much more getting to the GWB, than on the NJ side. There shouldn't be much traffic crossing the GWB towards NJ, and then heading SB on the part of 95/Turnpike that doesn't go to the Lincoln tunnel (remember, it splits), at 9AM when you hit it if you're coming from Danbury as your location indicates. That's already past peak times, and again, I don't think it's too terrible either way.

However, getting to the GWB if you're leaving at 8AM, means you're essentially driving the exact commute everyone going to Manhattan from CT/that part of NY is, and that sounds rather hopeless.

That said, I don't commute to NYC, so take my opinions with a grain of salt.

As for parking, just follow the signs. Long-term parking is fairly far out, but the buses do run regularly and it is worth it IMO. If you're lucky, the long-term parking lot will be full (then they give you a slip letting you park in a closer lot for the long-term rates).

My answer is too late for you, but buses only for long-term parking, airtrain for the closer lots.
